Stunning pictures of an intense tug-of-war between an eagle and a ravenous fox have been taken. The animals engaged in a combat over a rabbit that started on the ground and finished more than 20 feet in the air.
Dramatic images depicted a red fox prowling the area while holding a freshly caught rabbit in its mouth. A bald eagle suddenly swooped in to attempt and take the prize. The persistent fox clinged to the rabbit and was carried more than 20 feet into the air by the eagle. The eagle took flight with the rabbit in its mouth after forcing the fox to release its grip.
Kevin, who owns a company called Living Wilderness, witnessed the amazing event while visiting San Juan Island National Historical Park in Washington State, USA. There is no doubt that bald eagles are expert ʜᴜɴᴛers, according to the 44-year-old man. They have the ability to see fish from a mile away and fly there in less than a minute. They are experts in the practice of kleptoparasitism, or taking food from other people.
Kevin said that he was observing several young foxes resting and having fun on the prairie. They began ʜᴜɴᴛing just before dusk. About fifteen minutes later, a red fox caught a rabbit and was taking it across the meadow. With that, he panned his camera to record the action.
He then heard a bald eagle’s screech from behind. He looked back and noticed how quickly it was coming. It wanted the rabbit. He thought the fox would lose the rabbit, making it an easy meal for the eagle. Instead, the bald eagle unintentionally caught the fox, which was still clenching its jaw on the rabbit. The young fox and rabbit were carried into the air by the eagle, starting an even more dramatic conflict.
The fox put up quite a struggle, swinging back and forth. After moving the rabbit to its right talon, the eagle released the fox. The fox fell from a sufficient height that when it reached the ground, it created a small dust cloud. In less than eight seconds, the entire conflict was concluded. The fox was fine. It put the incident behind it and carried on playing with the other kits.
