Bear’s Fatal Encounter: Tragedy Strikes as Pig Faces Fierce Attack

A spine-chilling video is going viral showing a pair of pigs in Connecticut, U.S., fighting off a wild bear that had climbed into their enclosure.

Dramatic video captured on Ring camera showed the bear climbing up and over the fence into the enclosure holding the two pigs, named Mary and Hammy.

As soon as the black bear makes its way in, the white hog named Mary wastes no time in pushing back against her much larger foe.

Hammy, a black hog, then suddenly charges at the bear, backing it into a corner on its hind legs, the dramatic footage shows.

The hogs show extreme bravery as they refuse to back off, staring down the bear.

The bear seems to quickly realise it is seriously outnumbered and leaps out of the enclosure as fast as it jumped in.

“I am very proud of them because Hammy, the little one especially, he’s afraid of his own shadow and the way he came charging out when he saw Mary tussling with the bear. He was like ‘oh no, no way, get out,” Rebecca Shaw, who owns the pigs, told NBC Connecticut.

Shaw said she only checked the surveillance because her son and brother were yelling about a bear roaming outside the home.

She said the bear seemed “cute” at first on the security footage, tumbling around in the hay beside the pig pen — before it jumped the fence.

“That’s when I realized that my pigs can defend themselves,” Shaw said, adding, “I thank God, again, because it could have ended very badly.”
