This is the incredible, proud moment of the lions trying to take down an elephant that has been separated from the rest of the herd.
Video taken at South Luangwa National Park in Zambia shows the elephant completely surrounded by lions. When the great lions began to jump on its back and bite the young mouse, things did not look promising. But soon, events unfolded in a spectacular fashion.
Bravely fending off her attackers, the elephant made a quick and wise decision to run across a nearby river in a desperate attempt to escape the onslaught.
Despite the close call, the story ended well for the elephant. The adolescent individual was seen reunited with the rest of its herd the next day.
Attacked by 14 predatory lions, this little girl fights back with guts and determination, and at one point, actually letting a lioness run for her life. Perhaps it was his youth that made him fearless, but whatever the reason, this elephant certainly showed that the king of the forest was the braver one.
