Lions are known to be predators with their skills in stalking long grass before plunging with speed and sharp teeth.
Hippos are said to be the deadliest mammal in Africa, killing about 2,900 people every year. And it’s no surprise – their mammoth jaws are incredibly strong, and their teeth weigh an average of 6.5 pounds each and can grow to less than a foot long. Incredibly, these giant animals can also run up to 30 miles per hour, so taking down an opponent is not an easy task.
Video posted to YouTube shows a curious lion stalking a hippo lounging in a meadow. The lioness slowly approached the hippo.
She started poking around at the hippo’s tail, she didn’t know it was a mistake.
At first, the hippopotamus seemed to be looking around, maybe it was a mate just to say hello, but when it realized the threat could be a little more than that, it darted like an arrow.
The lion thought the hippo couldn’t attack him, but the surprise for him was that the hippopotamus rushed to knock the lion away and grabbed it by the neck and struggled.
