A video of a dramatic chase between a jaguar and an antelope has made us rethink the intelligence of animals and how they use this to outmaneuver predators.
The video begins with a scene where a Nyala antelope spots a jaguar lurking nearby, and starts to run away. Immediately, the jaguar chased after its prey without hesitation.
Dubbed the “speed king” on the savannah, the jaguar quickly caught up with the poor animal without any difficulty.
However, before it could deliver the finishing blow, the antelope acted strangely. It suddenly slowed down, and turned to face the predator.
This confusing move of the antelope caught the leopard by surprise. For a moment, he forgot that he was the one taking the initiative, and didn’t know what to do next.
In the next few minutes, the leopard proved to be competent and had no intention of rushing to attack for fear of the enemy. Meanwhile, antelopes also see their opportunities, so they are more confident in “defense”.
In the end, the antelope escaped the predator with ease and returned to its herd.
